Pete the Cat - I Love My White Shoes - Live Telling

It's catch up time

For real this time.... I uploaded a ton of photos and realized I have pics all the back to the beginning of October so yes... get ready... we are doing a flash back before getting up to date.

Back in October one of my favorite EVER author/illustrator combo came to Book People - a bookstore here in Austin that is just fantastic. They feature a ton of authors and illustrators - mostly kids - which I love. Those are the authors that I follow really....

So anywho back to the author/illustrator - Eric Litwin and James Dean - the creators of Pete the Cat series came to Austin. I send out and email to all of my class and told them about how awesome these guys truly are -- especially in person. They came out with their new book, Pete the Cat Rockin' in my School Shoes, - a follow up to Pete the Cat I love my White Shoes. Both of these can be read like a regular book OR sung to the tune that they provide.

If you click here you can hear them read the book and hear the song

And because I don't know how to load a video directly from youtube onto my current post you will see them on a youtube video in my next post. Click on it - they are truly awesome to take your little ones to if you ever get a chance. They get them up dancing, laughing, clapping - they are there for the kids for sure.

Their books are great and my Kindergarten class truly loves them. Below are some photos from their book signing and performance.

Mia

Haven't seen much of her lately on here - I feel she deserves an update:)

She is still as rotten and spoiled as ever. She still wakes me up early when Derrick is there to get out of bed and then takes my spot immediately after I stand up to snuggle with him. She still follows Derrick everywhere and whines when he doesn't pay enough attention to her. She still crawls on top of his suitcase when he tries to start packing to not allow it. We have switched pretty much everything she eats over to some type of all natural or 'better made' foods and treats and I just cannot believe how much of a difference it has made. We are attempting to group out her hair again and let her look like a big fluffy teddy bear but it requires brushing at least once a week and frequent grooming so I'm not sure how long it will last. She gets boarded for 5 days next week over Thanksgiving holiday so I'm sure after all of that she will need to be shaved and cleaned up. How about some cute pics:)

Carnival time!

Our school hosts a big school Carnival every year. It's huge... bigger than probably any other school I have ever seen. We bring in a couple hundred THOUSAND dollars. It's insane. I wanted to go but it is so awkward to walk around there by myself without a kid, so I offered to take around sweet Lulu (Lindsey who I nannyed over the summer for). Derrick came for a little bit and took some pics of us enjoying the carnival. So cute! Gosh I love her. We did it all.... colored hairspray, tattoos, ice cream for dinner of course, tons of rides and games and of course the gigantic slide!

Awesome deal!

A couple weeks ago Derrick and I decided we needed a roaster... for cooking Thanksgiving dinner which we are doing on Tuesday. We headed out to Bed Bath and Beyond because I had a $5 off coupon... we found a roaster and after their sale, my coupon, AND a mail in rebate we got it for $10!! OH MY GOSH! And it's a nice one too:

Halloween!

Last minute Derrick and I decided to go out for Halloween downtown. We had to throw together our costumes and I must say -- I got a ton of compliments and loved my costume. Derrick... we he went as some old school work out dude and actually fit into my XS running shorts -- tight yes, but that was the look he was going for:) I went as Natalie Portman from Black Swan -- see below. Me v. her -- I did decent for a 1 hour pull together:)

Let's start at the beginning!

I feel like I am so far behind in my blogging, mostly because I am:) So I'm going to start back and get moving through what's been going on with me:)

The beginning of October Derrick and I ran in our first race, the 5K Livestrong event here in Austin. We ran to support Derrick's cousins team - who were running for Derrick's aunt who is a survivor of breast cancer. We both did really well - Derrick scoring around 25 minutes and me at 26:45. I couldn't believe how fast I ran it! So proud:) Below are some photos from the event.

We look pretty good huh?

I have my next race tomorrow - the Breast Cancer Walk. We are walking to support a friend at school who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer - Team Double D - Big or Small, let's save them all! Love our slogan:)

I'll post pics when they are up! Wish me luck!

Currently...

Currently I'm 4 hours into taking/completing my defensive driving course to get my speeding ticket dropped from my driving record. Interesting... no not at all. Helpful? Nope.. Unless you want to learn where carjackings usually occur and if you should get in the trunk if someone tells you to. Really? This is what I'm spending my Sunday doing!?!

Only 2 more hours and then a big test to take... if I don't pass I get to retake AND repay for the entire thing - awesome.

My plans of updating my blog this weekend didn't work out so well... apologies. Promise there is lots to come!
