July 4th weekend

Derrick and I had plans to fly to Savannah, GA to visit with friends and their new baby for the 4th of July weekend. I was so excited because it was our first vacation since New Years in New Orleans and I was eager to get away (not that I don't love Austin, but it's always nice to have a change of scenery). We dropped off Mia at the boarders on Friday and headed to the airport. The flights looked good so we thought for sure we'd make it on - WRONG. A flight cancelled right before ours which bumped tons of people over onto the remaining flights for the day, leaving us without a flight. We then thought we'd drive to Houston (bigger airport, better chances) and try to fly ... ANYWHERE. We honestly looked into going to about 10 or 12 difference places ranging from Florida to LA to Cancun to the Dominican. Nothing open for us. So, we stayed in Austin and had a very busy and fun weekend!

Friday we decided to head to Hamilton Pools, a water hole that normally has a waterfall coming down but due to the drought it was just a trickle. It was beautiful and water felt amazing. We headed home and went out to dinner at local pizza place that everyone raves about and we hadn't tried yet, Home Slice Pizza. Holy goodness.... it was awesome!

Saturday we had planned to go to Sea World, but one thing led to another and that got cancelled. We instead did some winery tours and tastings out by us. We found out that Texas Hill Country, about 20 minutes from where we are, is #2 in wineries - only next to Napa! Who knew? We loved the tastings and had a fun date together. We then had over some friends for a late night cook out and pool volleyball at night.

Sunday we gathered up a larger group and went out to Reimer's Ranch where we went fishing before. This time we packed coolers, noodles, rafts, chairs, food, and refreshing 21+ drinks, and lounged in the water for over 6 hours!! It was so fun to relax with friends, listen to music, and just enjoy some down time.

All of our stuff!

Monday was the 4th and we went bright and early to the boarders to pick up Mia (we left her there because I had to pay regardless and it was nice to take advantage of not having to worry about when to come home to let her out). We then headed to our friends neighborhood pool for drinks and fajitas.

Considering we had no plans to stay in Austin for the 4th I think we remained pretty busy! It was sad to not see any fireworks due to the drought, but we still had an awesome time with friends and relaxing!
